CHDOs

HOME regulations require that 15 percent of HOME funds each year must be allocated to Community Housing Development Organizations. A CHDO is a specific type of local non-profit entity--a not-for-profit, community based service organization whose staff members have the capacity to develop affordable housing for the community it serves.

Qualifying Criteria
A CHDO must be a nonprofit corporation with a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) tax-exempt ruling from the Internal Revenue Service. Please note that the following documents are provided for informational purposes only. Please obtain current forms and publications directly from the IRS.

Becoming a CHDO
Please complete the CHDO Qualification process if you intend to apply for HOME funding consideration.

Annual Recertification
Approved CHDOs must be recertified annually.
