Thomas Patterson has been a Realtor in the Montgomery area for nearly six years. He is an active member of the Montgomery Area Association of Realtors and heard about AHFA programs from an AHFA employee who was a guest speaker at a local Realtor luncheon.
Q: How long have you worked with the Step Up program?
A: My very first client used Step Up to buy their first home. Coincidentally, I later got a referral from that client and helped his brother and wife buy a house too, also using the Step Up program.
Q: What do you think is the greatest benefit of Step Up?
A: From a qualified buyer's perspective, it allows them to make a very low down payment in case they don't have a large amount of cash or maybe would like to keep that cash on hand in case they need it for unforeseen expenses. It can really help people who want to purchase a home do it sooner than they think.
Q: What do you like most about Step Up?
A: I like the Step Up program because it works and doesn't drag out the homebuying process. We can go from house shopping to contract to closing in a normal amount of time. You can't say that about a lot of special programs.
Q: What do you find most rewarding about your job?
A: I really enjoy assisting homebuyers during the entire process from beginning to end, and helping them buy a house they have picked out and are excited about.
