Another Workforce Housing Development Moves Forward

Posted on June 12, 2026

AHFA joined partners and local leaders to mark the groundbreaking of The Grove at Foley Beach, continuing the expansion of workforce housing opportunities across Alabama.

Located in Foley, this development represents the second project supported through the Workforce Housing Tax Credit (WHTC) program to begin construction. Its progress reflects growing demand for housing options that serve working individuals and families in communities across the state.

The Grove at Foley Beach highlights how public-private partnerships can bring new housing developments to life and support long-term economic growth. The project is supported through a combination of AHFA-administered resources, including:

  • $10 million in HOME Funds

  • $27 million in tax-exempt bonds

  • $28.7 million in federal and state tax credits, resulting in equity infusion of $28 million

Community partners gathered on site to recognize the importance of continued investment in housing tied to Alabama’s workforce needs. Once complete, The Grove at Foley Beach will offer 180 units designed to serve residents seeking quality housing with convenient access to local employers and services.
