Tate Named AHFA’s 2026 Manager of the Year

Tara Tate has been recognized as the Alabama Housing Finance Authority’s 2026 Manager of the Year.

As manager, Tate oversees the daily operations of Cahaba Glades and Pecan Grove, two rental housing developments that comprise 84 affordable apartments for families in Bibb and Autauga counties.

AHFA Compliance Auditor Cade Barrett presented the award to Tate at the recent AAHA conference. Tate explained how her own childhood spent in low-income housing makes her strive to provide better service, opportunities and community-building activities for her residents than she had.

“That’s all the happiness that I want, just being remembered as someone who helped them out or gave them life lessons they can use later on down the road,” said Tate. “[I want] to show them that they can succeed in life and push for something better. I tell them, ‘Everybody deserves more. You’ve just got to want more.’”

Now in its 29th year, the Manager of the Year award recognizes outstanding management staff at AHFA-funded multifamily housing developments. Nominees were evaluated on tenant relations, experience and education, the complex’s curb appeal, and AHFA program compliance.
